Emily Ramsay - Producer

Emily Ramsay is an independent Producer, Writer & Creator in Ottawa with a background in documentary and lifestyle broadcast television with an overall focus on artistic storytelling. Particularly passionate about short form and documentary video she focuses on women's stories, recently including “Vs.: Women in Combat Sports” - a documentary series about amateur female combat sports and martial arts athletes in Ottawa, which is now available on Bell TV1 and FITE TV. The series is now in production of its second season.

Emily graduated from the Algonquin College Scriptwriting program and is an alumnus of the WIFT-T Media Business program and a recipient of the CMPA Ontario Production Mentorship. She participated in the WIFT-T Connect Mentorship program and is a recipient of the City of Ottawa Youth in Culture Program grant. Emily’s credit’s include Producer of CFC Alumni and DGC Member Nathan Estabrooks’ feature film “Castrato”, Producer of Andrea Marcelino’s Canada Council for the Arts funded short film, a Spanish-Canadian co-production called “Not Even the Sun”, Producer of the award-winning micro-short cine-poem “Primary Colours” which screened at 32 festivals worldwide focusing on human rights, women’s issues and social justice (including at the UN Women’s Global Voices Film Festival, the Social Justice Film Festival), and Co-Producer of Morgana McKenzie's award-winning bilingual short film “Wild” (Indomptable) which was featured at TIFF Next Wave. Emily was also the Post-Production Supervisor for the 1-hour documentary special “Creatorland” (CBC Gem) and its accompanying 5-part series (Bell TV1), Producer’s Assistant on two seasons of the TVO/APTN series “Hard Rock Medical”, and produced a CBC Arts Exhibitionists featurette on poet activist Roua Aljied. She is the co-founder of Obscura Creative, a collective of Ottawa film and tv professionals, with a focus on grassroots community storytelling, freelancing on broadcast projects in Ottawa. 

Emily has most recently joined AMI (Accessible Media Inc.) as an Ottawa Bureau Producer, creating content segments and lifestyle documentaries for the blind and partially sighted community.
